Mai 2013 in Cannes statt.

2012 has been full of tasty stories, but the Thai language newspaper Thai Rath has chosen Thai Society’s Top Ten Tastiest Stories of the Year. These are my favourite eight..
Superstars: Love lives (and especially Miss Tak ‘Bongkoj’)
This year innumerable Thai stars have tied the knot with their one and only sweetheart. They include Woonsen, Tai and Nathawut etc… Though not yet married, but engaged; special mention goes to Tak (Bongkoj Khongmalai). Miss Tak, 27, who is famed, alongside her huge pair of watermelons, for posing half nude for every magazine and newspaper publication in Thailand, got engaged to billionaire founder of Dtac. Even though her fiancé has almost reached retirement age, Tak claims that when she first met him, she didn’t realize who he was and how rich he was; she just simply fell in love at first sight. Thailand’s reporters and gossip-mongers, however, reckoned that Miss Tak had fallen in love with the sight of wallet and not his ageing wrinkles.

Actress Bongkot "Tak" Khongmalai and billionaire Dtac founder Boonchai Bencharongkul were married in a ceremony at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel on Thursday morning, reports said.
Tak, 27, and Mr Boonchai, 58, were engaged on Nov 19 last year at his Museum of Contemporary Art on Vibhavadi Road.
Many celebrities and well-known business people attended the wedding ceremony, which lasted about one hour.
Reports said the bride price was a cashier's cheque in the amount of more than 100 million baht and a one-karat diamond ring.
The voluptuous actress, known for her erotically charged roles in films, such as Jan Dara, The Judgement and Bang Rajan, is almost three months pregnant.
Tak told reporters last year that she had fallen for Mr Boonchai because he had things in common with her: love of art, being a sensitive person, love of family and being grateful to his parents.
Mr Boonchai, a father of five, has had five wives. His fifth ex-wife is also a former actress, Benja Baramee.
The Dtac chairman and his family ranked 13th in Forbes magazine's "Thailand's 40 Richest 2012" released yesterday, with assets worth some US$990 million.

http://bk.asia-city.com/movie-review/nang-fah" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; After proving her undoubted acting talents over the past decade in films like Bang Rajan and Ai-Fak, Bongkot “Tak” Kongmalai takes a step forward with her directorial debut in Nang Fah, which explores the lives behind the curtain of three showgirls in Pattaya.
The story is told from the perspective of Mint (Julalak “Om-Yim” Julanon) after she has quit her job as a showgirl at The Angels bar in Pattaya. Her fellow Angels are Roong (Ratha “Yaya Ying” Pho-ngam) a talented dancer and choreographer who wants more from life, even if that means she ends up making some poor choices later in the film. Then there’s the beautiful and sincere Fern (Tak), who is popular with clients despite being deaf. But the film’s main focus is Mint’s 15-year old son Kao and his wish to discover who his father really is.
Let’s start with the good things about the film. Perhaps the biggest award should go to the people who compiled the trailer, who once again demonstrate that Thai editors have a real knack for making a bad film look much better than it really is. We should also give a shout out to the choreography and music, which is OK, even if it makes what’s meant to be a seedy bar in Pattaya look all too glamorous.
Apart from that, it’s all a bit of a mess. Sure, sex plays a huge part in the girls’ reality but the naked scenes are just gratuitous and add little value. Sensitive issues in the film like homosexuality are handled clumsily and the whole story line is poorly edited and features an unlikely and unbelievable twist. But, aside from all that, we should make special dishonorable mention of the acting, and especially that of the numerous child actors. Kao is one of the main leads but ends up giving a stellar turn as someone reading the script off a bit of paper.
While the film could have been as intriguing as the trailer, the sad fact is that it just turns out a little depressing and unwittingly gross. Tak might turn in a half-decent performance as the deaf Fern but she really should have spent more time worrying about the directing part of her job. She just can’t seem to decide whether she wants to make a warts-and-all portrayal of the life of a bar girl or a Thai version of Chicago. In the end, she manages to do neither and that really brings the curtain down on this whole sorry show.
