Freshwater fish in Thailand and fishing

Hi,
In Thailand, there are many types of fish. Also, many of the largest species can be found here. What better way to start but with the 'Monster' fish. In the world, maybe only 20 or so fish species found in freshwater can grow bigger than 100 kilos. half of these are types of Sturgeon (like Beluga, latin name Huso huso). Of the rest, half can be found in Thailand, more than anywhere else in the world.
So today, I will introduce you too the biggest, the giant stingray, Himantura chaophraya. This fish is found in the Mekong and Chaophraya river systems. Although not common, it is sometimes caught by anglers in Bangkok - but you need strength and patience to land this fish! It can grow to 600 kilos! So next time you look into the water of the Chaophraya, remember something much bigger could be down there! This species was only described by scientists 23 years ago! little is known about it.
