Free changes on THAI tickets

Thai Airways International allows passengers to change their flights without additional fees.

The permission is applicable to tickets issued before Oct 28 by THAI and travel agents, for travelling during Oct 1-Nov 15.

Passengers are required to complete the change within Nov 30 at THAI Contact Centre, THAI Ticketing Office and travel agents, for the travelling by Dec 30.

14 city roads closed

The Metropolitan Police's traffic command has ordered closed to traffic 14 city roads which have been flooded.

In nothern Bangkok, the roads closed are:

1. Vibhavadi Rangsit: between National Memorial and Lak Si intersection;
2. Phahon Yothin: between National Memorial and Soi Phahon Yothin 50;
3. Khamphaeng Phet 6 (local road): between the entrance to Muang Ake housing estate to Thung Song Hong intersection;
4. Songprapa: between Sri Saman and Kor Sor Bor intersections;
5. Weluwanaram: the entire road;
6. Liap Khlong Song: between Air Force Palathikarn and Sapan Poon intersections;
7. Chantharubeksa: between Air Force Academy and Chantharubeksa intersections.

In western Bangkok:

8. Charan Sanitwong: between Bang Phlad intersection and Sirindhorn interchange;
9. Arun Amarin: between Arun Amarin intersection and Sirindhorn elevated road;
10. Boromratchachonnani:between Pin Klao bridge and Sirindhorn elevated road;
11. Boromratchachonnani:between Phutthamonthon 3 and Phutthamonthon 4 intersections;
12. Sirindhorn: between Bang Phlat intersection and Sirindhorn elevated road;
13. Uthayan: between Uthayan and Phutthamonthon 3 intersections; and
14. Sala Thammasop: the entire road.

Die Deutsche Botschaft in Bangkok richtet deshalb für dringende Notfälle am Wochenende einen Präsenzbereitschaftsdienst ein, der von Samstag 12.00 Uhr an unter der Telefonnummer 0066-2-2879000 erreichbar ist.

Das Hochwasser überraschte Dominik Köppl, 24, während seines Auslandsstudiums in Bangkok. Er reiste nicht ab, sondern packt Hilfspakete und füllt Sandsäcke. Am Strand liegen, während sein Gastgeberland davonschwimmt, wollte er nicht - und so lange es Strom gibt, wird er bleiben.

A section of a dyke along Phra Khanong canal has collapsed, releasing an enormous amount of water on Bangkok's Sukhumvit soi 48 and soi 50.

Khlong Toey district chief Wiparat Chaiyanukit said on Friday the breach was about 10 metres long.

Mrs Wiparat said about 50 soldiers and workers from the Department of Drainage and Sewerage were piling up sandbags to plug the opening in the dyke.

The dyke should be repaired before high tide this evening, she said.

A bridge on Sukhumvit soi 62 and nearby elevated roads were filled with cars and motorcycles as motorists feared that the rising water would damage their vehicles.

Knapp 300 Bankfilialen mußten ihren Betrieb einstellen und aufgrund des Hochwassers geschlossen werden. Ebenso wurden ca. 3.300 Geldautomaten außer Betrieb gesetzt.
Thailand. Bereits am Anfang der Woche berichtete der ONLINE-TIP über die Schließung von 283 Bankfilialen. Jetzt wurden weitere Filialen geschlossen und zusätzlich knapp 3.300 Geldautomaten außer Betrieb gesetzt.

Die Provinz Pathumthani ist der Spitzenreiter mit 151 geschlossenen Bankfilialen. In Nonthaburi, Bangkok und in Nakhon Sawan mußten ebenfalls knapp 150 weitere Filialen aufgrund des Hochwassers geschlossen werden.

Natürlich sind auch unzählige Geldautomaten vom Hochwasser oder sicherheitshalber von den Banken stillgelegt worden. Betroffen sind zur zeit knapp 3.300 Automaten, die Zahl dürfte aber noch weiter nach oben steigen.

Nakhon Sawan mußten ebenfalls knapp 150 weitere Filialen aufgrund des Hochwassers geschlossen werden.
